School Closings and Inclement Weather Cancellations
When we experience inclement weather, the Wellington-Napoleon School District is focused on safety. Check out this list of reminders that could help your families prepare for school snow days.
If school is closed early due to the arrival of inclement weather, please make plans ahead of time and communicate them with your children. That way they will understand what to expect if the school needs to dismiss early.
Parents, please review the information listed as emergency contacts and make sure that the numbers are up-to-date, either through Parent Portal or with your building secretary.
As the temperatures fall and winter precipitation approaches, Wellington-Napoleon wants to ensure our parents are informed in case we need to cancel school, have a 2 hour late start or release early. Please review these channels that we will use to communicate closing information with our families:
Wellington-Napoleon will send a text message through Tiger Text, informing everyone of the decision. Make sure you are signed up to receive school cancellation messages.
Media and Social Media: Accurate information about district school closings will be shared via Wellington- Napoleon's social media accounts - Facebook and Twitter - as well as on radio and television stations (who scroll cancellations within their own discretions and timelines).
Wellington-Napoleon Mobile App: Families and community members may download the district app to receive all notifications of school closings and events.
Wellington-Napoleon website: School closings are announced on the district website as soon as the decision is made.
The decision to cancel school, have a 2 hour late start, or release early is never taken lightly. Many conversations take place with our transportation company, road district personnel, and neighboring school districts all while assessing weather conditions and often driving rural, gravel roads. We strive to make the safest decision within the quickest timeline possible so information can be shared within the community. Thank you for your support of the Wellington-Napoleon School District and your flexibility as we make our way through another Missouri winter.
