FAFSA--OPEN Oct 1
Free Application for Federal Student Aid, better known as the FAFSA.
The FAFSA is now available October 1 for completion. Go to: https://fafsa.ed.gov/ Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible, even if they don’t know where they are going to college or trade school. Many institutions have priority deadlines for limited resource grants and loans based on when the FAFSA was submitted. The State of Missouri has established a priority deadline of February 1 for the Access Missouri Grant.
The FAFSA should now be easier to complete for students and families. The tax information included on the FAFSA is now based off of a completed tax year. Students and parents will use tax information from the year two years before the student will begin classes. Most students and parents will be able to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool within the FAFSA.
As a reminder in order to complete the FAFSA, student and parents will each need their own unique FSA ID and password. Sometime creating the FSA ID and password can be a little cumbersome.
Please make sure to find the school code for the school you are attending and check their priority deadlines.
You college Office of Financial Assistance can help answer any questions about filling out the FAFSA.
